About Me
I am a joyful follower of Jesus Christ and believe that tapping into spiritual power (in any faith tradition) is key to personal growth and healing. I enjoy cooking nutritious meals for my family and working and playing outdoors! I thrive on family time, gardening, biking, yoga, reading a good book, and learning all about the science of health and lasting behavior change!
I strongly believe that a flourishing life is built on a foundation of nourishment in the 5 key areas of our being: Spiritual, Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Social. I love being part of Ascend’s pioneer movement to combine mental health counseling and therapy with nutrition and lifestyle coaching. This synergistic combination creates powerful results!

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I wanted to work for Ascend because of their focus on faith-based services. God has blessed me throughout my life and I know He blesses others, but our mental and emotional health can impact our connection with Him. I really enjoy connecting with clients and supporting them on their healing journey. I love it so much, I want to continue doing it in retirement with Ascend Counseling & Coaching. I desire to bring hope and healing to all clients I see.
Education & Training
Most of my clinical experience came from serving clients at Central Utah Counseling Center in Ephraim, Utah. I graduated from the University of Utah in 2001 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I have also received training in CBT, DBT, ART and many other modalities.
About Me
I have lived and worked in rural Utah for over 22 years. I enjoy hiking and healthy eating habits. In addition, I am spiritual and religious and enjoy worshiping Jesus through singing in choirs. Because of Him, hope and healing are possible.

John Neubauer (76) began yoga in 1973 for lingering leg cramps from college basketball. Within weeks, the cramps went away and never came back. He began tai chi in 1975 for lingering shoulder and neck tension. Within weeks, that tension went away and never came back. In 1977 while spending a week in the French Alps with one of the world’s greatest tai chi masters then, Gia Fu Feng, he was inspired on how to combine the two into a single discipline he called Tai Chi Yoga.
John has taught thousands in the US and Europe, including ballet companies, athletes, and people of all ages, shapes, and conditions. In the 1970’s, he owned and operated the largest yoga studio in Kentucky and one of the largest in the country then.
In 2023 he published his first book on Amazon THE POWER OF TAI CHI YOGA and his second in 2024 THE HOW-TO OF TAI CHI YOGA. In 2025 he will publish his third, CONNECTING SPIRITS: DANCING WITH TAI CHI YOGA”. He currently serves as adjunct professor of tai chi at Snow College (Ephraim, Utah) and teaches private in-person classes thru out Sanpete County, Utah where he lives.
As a master of Tai Chi Yoga, and inventor in bringing the two together, John brings an important element to our team in improving holistic mental health and wellness. There are many well-researched benefits of yoga especially and also tai chi.
Tai chi is a non-competitive martial art known for its self-defense techniques and is a “meditation-in-motion”. It combines gentle physical exercise and stretching with mindfulness and stomach breathing. Tai Chi can improve balance control, fitness, flexibility, can alleviate depression, stress, and anxiety as it promotes a sense of inner-peace.
Yoga has many benefits of increasing mobility and range of motion, increasing depth of breathing, enhancing mindfulness, increasing strength and flexibility. As well as improving your sleep and reducing stress.
When these two forms of gentle exercises are combined, Tai Chi Yoga becomes a powerful tool to enhance and deepen your life experience. We are excited John has joined our team and look forward to all the benefits of Tai Chi Yoga for our clients!
